VP, Head of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR).

My client is a fully integrated global biopharmaceutical company that applies its scientific expertise and proprietary technologies to research, develop and commercialize pharmaceutical products that are designed to address unmet medical needs of patients in major therapeutic areas.
They have a diversified portfolio of marketed products focused on central nervous system disorders such as addiction and schizophrenia and a pipeline of product candidates in the fields of neuroscience and oncology.

The Head of HEOR establishes the mission and vision for the HEOR function and ensures that HEOR studies are conducted to meet industry standards, support the clinical, economic and patient-centric value propositions associated with the company''s portfolio, and enable favorable global market access.

To accomplish this, The VP, Head of HEOR will collaborate with other functional teams within R&D (e.g., , Epidemiology, Clinical Development and Biostatistics) and also collaborate with Commercial and Managed Markets / National Accounts Teams to align strategies with brand marketing, pricing, and reimbursement to optimize patient outcomes and market access.

Activities:

  • Serves as a visionary leader who establishes the direction and growth of the HEOR function.
  • Contributes to the growth and vision of the Medical Affairs department as a standing member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team.
  • Develops and implements HEOR strategies and plans for company''s products throughout their lifecycle, in alignment with the medical directors and product strategic imperatives.
  • Accountable for the design and execution of HEOR projects to support the clinical, economic, and humanistic value propositions for company''s products, including, but not limited to, comparative effectiveness studies, cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, burden of illness studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses/indirect comparisons, patient-reported outcomes research, retrospective database analyses, and prospective observational studies.

Skills:

  • HEOR expertise, with a demonstrated ability to design and lead projects as well as manage and mentor teams. Experience in both US and EU Managed Markets as well as global Health Technology Assessment (HTA) strategy is desired.
  • Doctorate degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD) in a health services discipline AND/OR a clinical degree (MD, DO, PharmD, RPh, DNSc) is required
  • Neuroscience/CNS and/or oncology therapeutic experience preferred.
  • In addition to a doctoral or clinical degree, a master''s degree in Public Health, Pharmacoeconomics, or Outcomes Research, or a Master''s degree in Business Administration or a health-related field is desired
  • Minimum 15 years of pharmaceutical industry experience designing and conducting HEOR studies, such as comparative effectiveness studies, cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, burden of illness studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses/indirect comparisons, patient-reported outcomes research, and retrospective database analyses.
