We’re seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join an  internationally renowned, award-winning creative agency based in Shoreditch, London.

We take a SmART(Science meets ART)  approach to medical communications. Our team of creative and scientific minds work side-by-side to reimagine how to engage with Healthcare Professionals. We have been revolutionising the pharma congress experience since 2003 so we know how to take a complex idea and distill it down to its most powerful core message, to get under HCPs’ skin, to demonstrate the intangible benefits of a drug, and turn dry science into a memorable experience. But the world is changing and we are having to find unique ways to create meaningful connections through live, digital and hybrid experiences. 

As we are receiving an increasing number of requests for scientific content, we are looking for a life science specialist with a passion for writing to join our growing scientific team. You will have the knowledge, skills, and expertise to deliver high-quality scientific content for our global clients. With strong interpersonal skills, you will take a proactive approach and work closely with our in-house creative team to deliver scientific content that is captivating, compelling and credible. 

This role sits within the Scientific team and you would report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer & Executive Creative Director.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of assigned therapeutic area(s), client, and competitor product(s)
  • Write high-quality, scientifically-accurate, and compliant content to meet client briefs across a variety of project types
  • Become an active partner to the creative team. Explain scientific background and context, prepare briefs, and review creative output for scientific accuracy
  • Contribute scientific content to new business opportunities, and participate in pitch presentations
  • Provide guidance/mentorship and internal peer review, as appropriate
  • Lead fact-checking and preparation of marked-up references packs, and support the project management team throughout the content approval process
  • Follow internal and client-driven processes and procedures to deliver projects to agreed specifications and deadlines
Skills and experience required:
  • A life sciences MSc, PhD (a life sciences BSc may also be considered)
  • Relevant Healthcare agency writing experience (at least 4-5 years)
  • Proven track record of delivering excellence across medical communications and working in partnership with clients and experts to provide strategic counsel 
  • Experience delivering events for pharmaceutical clients (eg. symposia and standalone meetings), including faculty liaison and content development
  • Interest in digital engagement and the use of technology to augment the scientific story 
  • Professionalism and gravitas, and the ability to communicate with clients and healthcare professionals with confidence
  • Demonstrable passion for writing, with a strong command of the English language
  • A solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, the clinical development process, common compliance regulations surrounding medical communications and the process of medical approval (eg. Veeva, Zinc)
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, both orally and in writing to clients and creative teams as needed
  • A keen eye for detail across scientific content and editorial standards
  • Ability to manage own workload across multiple projects
  • High emotional intelligence, and flexibility in response to the needs of clients and teams, and to changing situations
  • Details of research and/or work at a previous agency (including details of clients with which you have worked, therapy area experience, project types, and audiences for which you have written)
